KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 Deft Quest First Ride!

PreTrip_Switzerland_New_Bikes_018_SnapseedTo the UK… taaaaake 2!

So!!  After a couple of days in Basel we have ended up sorting out Sam’s petrol pump (again, big big thanks to KTM Basel for helping us out both with picking us up and also sorting out the bits and bobs!  We couldn’t have done it without them!) and also my fairing and other parts arrived so in the end it was all a bonus!  The ride home was veeeeery long (13hours one day, 12 the next) and mainly in darkness and rain!!  On the plus side… we were on our new bikes and quite frankly, they are MEGA to ride! With the KTM Basel Defy Series Quest additional tanks we only filled up once, so you’re looking at around the 400mile mark to ride without refuelling – and we had spare!

KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 Defy Quest First Ride:

They are smooth, sleek, on the rails (with the weight being low down the cornering is stupendous), comfortable and incredibly good fun!  As the tanks are so slim they give you a great riding position for your knees when seated or standing.  The arrangement means you are a tad higher than when on the original KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 kit by approximately an inch, which made me feel a bit wibbly when I stopped or tried to manoeuvre the bike about with my feet but nothing I will not manage to get used to!  The only slight negative I have which can be resolved easily is that I cannot kick the side stand down as it sits just behind the rerouted exhaust.  I believe next time we’re in KTM Basel though we’re going to have a wee bit welded on so we can hook our boot onto it with ease!  So… that makes for no negatives!  Heheehee!!

We are now home and happy to have our bikes back to start playing with our luggage arrangements!  For the next few weeks we’re going to be mental busy with packing up the house and moving and then off on the trip, but all is good and we are smiling!

Cracking job there KTM Basel – thanks again for all your help and on going support, you guys are mega and have an awesome awesome kit :)
