Meet Hobbes and Stimpy!
After muchos consideration and research we have decided to pick ourselves up a couple of KTM 690 Enduro R 2012′s for our round the world trip on motorbikes!
jump to upgrades:
HAND GUARDS
BRAKE LIGHTS
KTM SCREEN

Having ridden a KTM 990 Adventure S from Dubai to Alaska, Sam’s experience of KTM’s has been an incredibly positive one considering the only problems he endured was his clutch plates giving up the ghost! Clare’s contribution to the decision involved a lot less experience but instead a great deal of research. After contemplating various other bikes, nothing seemed to quite meet the adaptability the KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 offered. Economic, easy mechanics, awesome off road skills, lightness for the many occasions it will fall… the GRRness of the KTM just pipped it. Her final choice had no influence with the fact that burnt orange is her favourite colour and the KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 made a nice “brum brum” sound. No influence at all.
Hobbes and Stimpy will be experiencing a bit of an overhaul in the next couple of months in preparation for our charity round the world challenge! When these commence, we will be popping here to update for you all to see so keep visiting!

Hand Guards
As we all know, that at some point in our riding we will fall a croppper to that thing called the ground, in which we use our bikes to soften our fall. Usually the the parts that go are the levers, and in some out of the way countries we will be visiting going into a shop and asking for a set of OEM levers for a KTM 690 Enduro R probably will result in clare being sold for several camels or sam (whoever is doing the selling!). So from previous experience we decided to buy some handguards, some Acerbis rally pro handguards to be precise. As clare recently found out that the original handguards that come with bike are made of chocolate, not the yummy kind either! With a nice aluminium strip running through it should be strong enough for the eventual bumps and scrapes!
Brake Lights
As we all know riding a bike comes with some downsides, for instance cars deciding that you dont actually use the road, so having items that attract attention are always a bonus. So we start with the rear, we went out and got a set of DRC rear LED brake lights, so when we stop people behind have no excuse!
KTM Screen
Riding a MX style bike may make you look cool and down with the kids, but any rider will tell you that on long stretches of road at a decent clip with no screen or fairing means a miserable trip. With the wind fighting you to turn your helmet 180 deg and blow you off your bike. So in our infinite wisdom we decided to add this nice little accessory to our inventory… KTM’s own Screen, and if I may so it looks rather dashing, and if you do want to be done with the kids and cool just take up smoking its easier!
